Make sure to join us next Thursday AM for the South Region General Meeting to be held at the 2018 GIS of Alabama Conference in Orange Beach Alabama.

We have a great lineup of speakers including Mack Wainwright from Central Alabama Electric Cooperative

Mack has help build a successful GIS program at Alabama at Central Alabama Electric Cooperative.  His presentation will describe some of the lessons learned after returning from an overseas deployment with the Air National Guard, and inheriting GIS data that was collected while he was gone.  He hopes that everyone can learn from mistakes he made.

Topics covered will include how you, as a GIS Professional, should:

  •        Have a plan to maintain your data
  •        Make sure that your data is collected correctly
  •        More is always better; collect as much info as you can during your field collection
  •        Understand your internal process and how you system fits.
  •        Get outside of your comfort zone
